This can help reduce cholesterol levels in the blood and keeps the digestive tract healthy.

An apple is a carbohydrate with a low GI (glycemic index) rating. Low GI foods digest slowly in your system. They will gradually be incorporated into the bloodstream as glucose, even when they finally split in the intestine. This leads to a gradual rise in blood sugar.

You can even help manage weight and improve long-term diabetes blood sugar levels.

3. Baked Beans - honest!

The modest, common, baked beans keep eating protein. It is also a source of fiber, iron and calcium. They contain carbohydrates, such as apples, the low GI variety. Even the tomato sauce, cover the beans is a good source of lycopene. This is a powerful antioxidant shown to help heart disease and even prevent prostate cancer. White beans are insoluble fiber, which is not digested but moves into the colon, where bacteria act accordingly. This leads to short-chain fatty acids. These fatty acids are thought to nourish the colon lining, which protects them against carcinogens.

4. Bananas

First, it is a myth that bananas are thick. Yes, bananas are a bit higher in energy than other fruits, but the calories come from carbohydrates. It is for them an excellent energy source for fueling, while making or after exercise.

Bananas are packed with potassium. This is very useful to lower blood pressure. They also contain vitamin B6 for healthy skin and beautiful hair.

All fruit and vegetables contain antioxidants. These are plant compounds known as phytochemicals. These antioxidants are considered as very important in helping protect the cells in your body from damage by free radicals. This in turn provides protection against heart disease and cancer.
